Greenville, South Carolina - Gamma Gamma Lambda hosted the South Carolina District Conference (SCDC) on October 11-12, 2019 at the Greenville Hilton in Greenville, SC. The annual event gathers SC District's, sometimes referred as SC Alpha, thirty-two College and Alumni chapters from across the state to participate in competitions, business sessions, and fellowship events for the upcoming year. The Conference's Theme is "Urgency of Now: Mission-Minded Brothers supporting our communities through Advocacy and Activism". The District conference was last held in Greenville in 2014 & 2010.
This year is the celebration of the 59th year of Alpha Phi Alpha in South Carolina which began with Greenville-native Bro. Luke H. Chatman, as the first SC State Director of Alpha. The Local Planning Committee, which includes chapters from Clemson, Anderson, Spartanburg, and Rock Hill. This year's conference will include a Public Program, a slate of ladies activities, Stroll Off, Miss Black & Olde Gold Pageant which include Conference-ending Award segment, where winners of district competitions will be announced. |
This conference had more than 230 delegates with their families in attendance and there will be several public events on Friday and Saturday. There will also be opportunites for Brothers and their spouses to see Greenville and experience Upstate area. Here is a tentative schedule of the public events scheduled for the Conference Weekend.

Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., the first intercollegiate Greek-letter fraternity established for African-Americans, was founded at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. The Fraternity initially served as a study and support group for minority students who faced racial prejudice – educationally and socially – at Cornell. The founders and early leaders of the Fraternity succeeded in laying a firm foundation for Alpha Phi Alpha's principles of scholarship, fellowship, good character, and the uplifting of humanity. South Carolina District of Alpha Chapters (SCAlpha) is state-wide organization of Alpha Chapters consisting of the thirty-two (32) chapters of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. representing the District of South Carolina. Gamma Gamma Lambda Chapter is the Greenville, SC Chapter established in 1941.
