Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Holds First Annual 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament Contact: Don Weston Greenville, SC, June 23, 2001 --- The Gamma Gamma Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., will hold its first annual 3 On 3 Basketball Tournament. The special event is scheduled for Saturday, August 25, 2001 at Greenville High School gymnasium. The games get underway at 9 am. The cost for admission is $5. The objective of Alpha Phi Alpha nationally and in the Greenville community is to stimulate the ambitions of young men; to prepare them for the greatest usefulness in the cause of humanity, freedom and dignity of the individual; and to aid downtrodden humanity in its efforts to achieve higher social, economic and intellectual status. Through such activities as the 3 on 3 Basketball tournament, we will help to further insure the success of the individual and our community. Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., is the nation's first Greek-letter fraternity established by African-American college students established on December 4, 1906 on the campus of Cornell University. There are more than 700 chapters worldwide with over 100,000 members.
