GGL promotes Voter Education and Prostate Cancer Awareness

Greenville, SC - The Brothers of Gamma Gamma Gamma Lambda collaborated with the Upstate Urban League on Saturday, September 8, 2007 during their1st Annual Youth Fest to register residents of Greenville County to vote. This fun and festive environment served as the perfect backdrop for the GGL chapter to implement the Alpha National program of “A Voteless People is a Hopeless People”.

Bros. Will Whitley, Antuan Russ, Brian Becker, and Calvert Drummond at GGL’s table at the Youth Fest on Sept. 8, 2007.

In addition to voter registration, GGL and Pi Alpha Brothers also passed out information on voting rights as well as how to use the new electronic voting machines. Greater Greenville residents were empowered by the information presented. The event started at 9:30 am and ended at 1:30 pm.

Not to waste the opportunity to maximize their impact to the community, these Alpha men also passed out flyers detailing the free prostate cancer screenings being conducted by Greenville Memorial Hospital during the month of September, which is National Prostate Cancer Awareness month. These dedicated Alpha Men exemplified the Fraternity Mission Statement of “providing service and advocacy to our communities”.
