PROJECT ALPHA 2009
Annual Project Alpha Session set for March 14, 2009
Guy-talk focuses on responsibility and making good choices

For Immediate Release

Greenville, SC, February 17, 2009– "Men are getting together" in Greenville, South Carolina, at the Disciples Fellowship Baptist Church Campus, 105 Crestfield Road to talk about important life issues, including the responsibilities of sexuality and fatherhood. The event is slated for March 14th from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm.

Participants can sign up and get the require parental consent form in the weeks leading to the main seminar at various mini-events in their community. Local Chapters will be solicting young men to come to the larger on March 14th. "We have great information and attitudes to share, but the challenge to have young men encouraged to attend", says Bobby Clark, Area coodinator for this year's event. "We are asking the community to help us get their young men to Greenville's seminar." (The Parental Consent Form can also be downloaded below.)

Project Alpha uses videos, handouts and small-group discussions led by experts in health education and law. Discussion is both informal and frank and the safe environment encourages young men to ask about responsibility and respect. Since 1980, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity and the March of Dimes have been sponsoring Project Alpha to help young men, ages 12-17, make positive choices about their sexual behavior and responsibilities.

Project Alpha is a nation-wide program sponsored by Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and the March of Dimes to prevent teenage pregnancy for the last twenty-nine years. This year, the upstate Alpha chapters in Greenville, Spartanburg, Anderson, and Clemson will work together with local middle school and high school boys to help them better understand their role in responsible behavior and make better life choices.
