Alpha Phi Alpha Greenville Foundation along with Gamma Gamma Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha will sponsor its 47th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship Celebration on Saturday, January 10, 2026 as a virtual and in-person event with Alpha Greenville Foundation and Furman University.
The celebration is offerring a virtual option for the event in addition to including a live event with aentertainment and celebrate the Legacy Dr. King in the upstate. Recent years have seen the Scholarship Celebration positioned as a kickoff event for Martin Luther King activities in Greenville and surrounding areas.
We are honoring our 2026 Martin Luther King, Jr. Citizenship Award winner. Our event also features a Jazz Band (The Jamie Wright Experience.
Proceeds from the Scholarship Celebration support the Luke H. Chatman Scholarship for local high students as well fund other Alpha Greenville Foundation efforts such the MLK Youth Program, Gordon College Fair, Alpha Gents and Joseph Vaughn Oratorical Competition. This year, Ms. Yvonne Reeder, A devoted community advocate, lifelong learner, and mentor ,has been selected as the 2026 Martin Luther King, Jr. Citizenship Award winner, which be presented at the Celebration. In addition to presenting the winner of this year's award, the MLKS Celebration is the longest held annual Commemorative event MLK Holiday for the Upstate and serves the lead event for the Foundation's fundraising efforts.
